Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the Commonwealth of Independent States in various fields. CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev spoke about the country’s role in CIS integration projects, Turkmenistan: Golden Age e-Newspaper reported referring to Lebedev’s interview with the MIR TV channel.
Lebedev noted that Ashgabat as a neutral state participates as an observer in cases concerning military cooperation. As for humanitarian and economic partnerships, Turkmenistan is sometimes even more proactive than other CIS Member States.
Speaking about the initiatives for building up partnerships among the CIS Member States put forward by the leadership of Turkmenistan, the CIS Secretary General highlighted the recent statement made by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Summit in Bishkek.
Sergei Lebedev emphasised that Turkmenistan takes an active art in organising various events within the CIS, which have contributed to strengthening cooperation and friendship among the states of the region.
