President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a state visit to China at the invitation of PRC President Xi Jinping, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
Mirziyoyev laid a wreath at the foot of the Monument to the People’s Heroes in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, and the official ceremony of meeting between the President of Uzbekistan and the leader of China took place.
The leaders of the two countries discussed the results of bilateral cooperation, noting that trade, economic and investment partnerships are developing dynamically. In particular, they noted that Chinese investment in Uzbekistan’s economy is rising and has increased fivefold. The number of joint ventures has tripled.
Mirziyoyev and Xi Jinping agreed to set up the Uzbekistan-China Council of Regions to coordinate interregional exchanges and emphasised the importance of stepping up construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. They also proposed holding the First Joint Youth Innovation Forum to expand cooperation in education and tourism.
