Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan to endorse medicine advertisements

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Decree introducing the new regulations in the pharmaceutical sector, which relate not only to the advertisement of medicines and dietary supplements, but also to the storage of medicines, as well as setting up a pharmacological surveillance system, the Gazeta.uz Newspaper reports.

According to the new decree, the content of medicine advertisements on television and radio channels will now be broadcast only after being approved by the Ministry of Health.

Starting from January 1, 2026, the storage of medicines at customs and free warehouses that do not have the GSP certificate will be prohibited. On July 1, a pharmacological surveillance system will be set up, which is aimed at prompt identification and timely response to potential threats associated with medicines.

The new regulations also provide for compliance with international standards, including good pharmacovigilance practice (GVP) and a database to collect information about medicine side effects at all levels of healthcare. This system also involves safety monitoring of medicines when issuing permits to use them in medical practice, as well as the compilation of the list of substances which pose a high health risk.
