Kyrgyz citizens advised to refrain from travelling to Ecuador

Unrest caused by clashes between criminal gangs and law enforcement forces has unfolded in Ecuador. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan warns citizens of the Republic against travelling to Ecuador, the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reports.

According to the Ministry, headed by Jeenbek Kulubaev, the violence has resulted in civilian fatalities and the death of police officers. There are no Kyrgyz citizens registered at the consulate in Ecuador among them.

The Ministry strongly recommends avoiding travel to Ecuador at this time. In case of emergency, citizens of Kyrgyzstan can seek help by calling the hotlines of the consular department of the Ministry and the Embassy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the President of Ecuador declared a nationwide state of emergency for a period of 60 days, including a curfew from 23:00 to 5:00.
