President of Turkmenistan attends informal CIS summit

On December 26, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to Russia to take part in an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS Member States, which has become regular in recent years, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reports.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the summit.

The heads of state emphasised the importance of filling traditional partnerships with qualitatively new content, based on the shared goals and objectives. They noted the need to develop effective mechanisms for regular political consultation among the CIS Member States, given the existing positive experience of joint work.

The participants exchanged views on priority areas of interaction for the short and long term. The counterparts expressed firm belief that the decisions taken and agreements reached this year during various forums, events and meetings will contribute to deepening interstate relations in the common interests and for the benefit of the friendly peoples.
