Tajikistan hosts International Festival of Eurasian Peoples

Dushanbe hosted the East-West International Festival that united music and handicrafts. The event took place at Abulkasim Lohuti Academic Theatre and was organised jointly with Rossotrudnichestvo, the Telegram channel of Rossotrudnichestvo reported.

The festival featured the works made by craftsmen from different countries of Eurasia, as well as national instruments and costumes. The event brought together guests from 11 countries of the continent.

Visitors tried Russian pancakes and learned about the history of toys, classical kokoshniks and musical instruments. Honoured Artist of Tajikistan Sodik Nurulloev demonstrated the depth of Russian folk songs. Head of the Russian House in Tajikistan Ivan Ivanov said the Russian universities, which often visit Dushanbe, presented Russian culture at the festival.

An adornment of the festival were traditional dances of different regions of Tajikistan. Each dance has the distinctive features of movements and costumes. The dancers in dresses decorated with chakan patterns from the southern regions, which date back to the Zoroastrian era, performed at the festival.
