UN supports resolution proposed by Uzbekistan

A resolution titled «Central Asia facing environmental challenges:  fostering regional solidarity for sustainable development and prosperity» was approved at a meeting of the UN General Assembly. The initiative to develop this document was put forward by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, kun.uz reports.

Discussions on the resolution took place at the UN Headquarters in New York in October-November. Experts from different countries, including the USA, China, France, Russia, Australia, Germany and Canada, took part in the discussions.

The resolution emphasised the need to foster regional solidarity in Central Asia to achieve sustainable development and prosperity. Particular attention is also paid to the Green Agenda for Central Asia, which calls for practical actions to protect the environment and address environmental problems.
