On December 19, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed bilateral trade and economic cooperation during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
«The two sides are making great efforts to implement the agreements reached during these visits. Today we see tangible results in several areas of interaction,» Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised.
The interlocutors noted that bilateral trade and economic relations are actively developing in three main areas. The gas sector is one of the important vectors of their cooperation. Turkmenistan supplies ‘blue fuel’ to Iran and across it to third countries through the SWAP system.
The counterparts identified electric power and transport as priority areas. In this context, they emphasised the positive experience of joint work in road construction and considered increasing freight volumes.
Berdimuhamedov and Raisi highlighted the significant role of cultural and humanitarian ties. In this regard, the two leaders discussed the prospects for bolstering interaction in science, education, culture, art and sports.
