Georgian business set to turn Kazakhstan into olive hub

Georgian investors are set to boost olive cultivation, production and exports in Kazakhstan and turn it an olive hub, the portal 24KZ reports.

In their opinion, the climate in the south of Kazakhstan is ideal for growing this plant that bears fruit for centuries. Currently, Georgia ranks among the largest olive producers in the world along with Greece, Italy, Spain and Indonesia.

President of the International Olive Council Georgy Svanidze expressed belief that Kazakh olive oil will be one of the best in the world. He noted that flowers, soil and weather in Kazakhstan ensure good results in olive cultivation. Georgian investors observe the successful growth of olive trees in the country and believe that local olive oil will be of superior quality.

Georgian business companies are set to open an oil refinery in Kazakhstan in 2 years. Furthermore, they intend to produce cosmetics and perfumes from olive oil.
