Wire transfers to Kyrgyzstan from other countries drop down in 2023

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, in January-September 2021, natural entities transferred $1.44 billion to the Republic through wire transfer systems, Sputnik reports referring to the announcement of the Bank headed by Kubanychbek Bokontaev.

The largest portion of this amount — $1.3 billion came from Russia. $774 million more were transferred during the same period a year ago.

According to Sputnik, such wire transfers from abroad are usually called migrant remittances. The press office of the National Bank clarifies that the statistical data includes not only migrants’ transactions, but also other operations. All funds are calculated in dollar equivalent, regardless of the currency.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 460,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan have arrived in Russia in 2023. This is 45 percent more than a year ago. The number of Kyrgyz citizens who received a residence permit in Russia increased as much as 11 percent.
