35,000 children in Kazakhstan born through reproductive technologies

More than 35,000 citizens of Kazakhstan are diagnosed with infertility, of which more than 26,000 are women. However, according to the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, not all patients with this disease need complicated and costly treatment, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), SNG.Today reports.

The Department noted that the problems that impede childbearing are successfully prevented from developing, which significantly reduces the need for complicated and costly treatment.

«The global need for ART is estimated to be at least 1,500 cycles/million population per year. In Kazakhstan, 18,000 cycles are performed annually. From 2021, 7,000 cycles are covered by the state through the Ansagan Sabi Programme,» Acting Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan Aigerim Ospanova said.

In Kazakhstan, the first child conceived by assisted reproductive technologies was born in 1996. Since then, 35,000 new citizens of the country were born through this method.
