On December 12, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting via videoconference to discuss the important tasks of ensuring the safe winter season, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

It was reported that a new coal supply system has been introduced in the country, which enabled Uzbekistan to mine 5.9 million tonnes of coal in 2023. About 930,000 tonnes of coal were supplied to the population for personal use, and 93,000 tonnes were supplied to support the social sphere.

The government officials noted that consistent measures have been taken to create additional power capacities in the country to ensure the safe winter season. Through these measures, 7 power plants with a total capacity of 2,200 megawatts will be put into operation in December this year.
