President of Turkmenistan receives UN Assistant Secretary-General

On December 11, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with UN Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States Ivana Živković in Ashgabat. The parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

Berdimuhamedov noted that it is a key priority of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan to promote multifaceted strategic cooperation with the international organisation. The President noted that Turkmenistan put forward the initiatives to ensure global social and economic well-being and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The President emphasised that the country is actively cooperating with international organisations in implementing the national environmental strategy. Berdimuhamedov confirmed that the Turkmen side will continue to support UN Development Programme projects on environmental issues.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the need to expand interaction in education and digitalization and exchange best practices. Furthermore, he stated the importance of building up partnerships to find new ways to make economic growth sustainable, improve public services and raise skills level of civil servants.
