On December 11, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated citizens of the country on the 28th anniversary of neutrality, the Turkmenistan: Today National News Agency reported.
«Upon the adoption of the historic resolution by the United Nations General Assembly 28 years ago, our Motherland received the legal status of permanent neutrality. Adhering to it, our independent state is pursuing a far-sighted and goal-oriented foreign policy that fully supports the efforts of the international community to achieve global peace, security and sustainable development,» the President said.
Berdimuhamedov noted that the legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan is a great value of the people. He said Ashgabat is consistently promoting cooperation with all interested countries and international organisations.
The leadership of the country is undertaking fruitful measures to ensure the comprehensive development of the country and improve living conditions of the people in line with the policy based on the principles «a state is for the people!» and «the state is a state only with the people!»
