On December 2, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov completed his working visit to the United Arab Emirates and returned to Ashgabat. The President presented the environmental priorities of Turkmenistan in his speech at the Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, the Turkmenistan: Today National News Agency reported.
Berdimuhamedov emphasised that the authorities of Turkmenistan pay special attention to the fuel and energy sector, where large-scale work is being done to reduce emissions through utilising associated petroleum gas and minimising losses in natural gas distribution networks. The President defined Turkmenistan’s contribution to global efforts to reduce methane emissions as a crucial aspect.
In this context, the Turkmen side announced its accession to the Global Methane Pledge and welcomed the Declaration on Climate and Health.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The interlocutors discussed the current state and prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation.
