New rehabilitation centre for children with disabilities opens in Kazakhstan

The Kamkorlyk rehabilitation centre that renders serves for early intervention for prevention of disability opened in Kaplanbek village in Saryagash district, the press office of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan reports.

In December 2020, the initiative of the Kamkorlyk First President’s Fund led to the opening of an early intervention centre in the region. The centre receives children aged from 2 months to 4 years 11 months for up to 30 days and offers comprehensive care and rehabilitation for 21 days.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Turkestan Region Deputy Akim Beysen Tazhibaev said over 10,500 children in the region are registered as disabled, more than half of them have nervous system diseases.

Children are under the supervision of specialists, including a neurologist, rehabilitation specialist, neonatologist, physiotherapist, physical therapist, speech therapist and speech pathologist. The rehabilitation centre has a therapeutic gym and mechanotherapy equipment. An S-Rider Sky simulator is used for hippotherapy; an Atlant neuro-orthopaedic pneumatic suit, a walking simulator, a limb exerciser, a walking platform and a play therapy kit are at specialists’ disposal.
