Tashkent is hosting the Regional Dialogue on Transboundary Nature Conservation in Central Asia Roundtable. This three-day event was organised by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan jointly with the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the World Bank and the German Society for International Cooperation, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
Speaking at the roundtable, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov said this event will become a platform for exchanging knowledge on biodiversity conservation in Central Asia. He emphasised that this initiative will allow creating a shared vision, opening up new economic and environmental opportunities and promoting nature-based tourism.
Government officials from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are attending the event. The statement of World Bank Country Manager for Uzbekistan Marco Mantovanelli is of particular importance. He stated that the financial institution will support efforts to conserve transboundary biodiversity in Central Asia. In particular, RESILAND CA+ Program will provide finding for land restoration projects in 6 transboundary corridors adjacent to the borders of Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
