On November 16, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting with Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic Sayasat Nurbek, the Telegram channel of Akorda reports.
The Minister reported that the Concept for Higher Education and Science Development for 2023-2029, which sets forth strategic objectives, was adopted. The relevant instructions were given by President Tokayev.
Sayasat Nurbek said scholarships for students have increased significantly (by 20% for undergraduate programmes and by 15% for Master’s and Doctor’s programmes), and the average salary for scientists has doubled since the beginning of the current academic year. The total budget spending on science for 2023-2025 has increased by 3.3 times and now amounts to 643 billion tenge.
In conclusion, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev gave specific instructions to improve the quality of education and research and encourage innovations.
