Turkmenistan has made huge contribution to strengthening cultural ties among nations

The IV International Festival “Theatrical Art of the Happy Epoch” that has brought together the theatres from the Central Asian states, Russia and Turkey is taking place in Ashgabat. Director from Azerbaijan Logman Kerimov brought the theatrical production “Edelweiss or You are Always with Me”, based on Ilyas Efendiyev’s works, of the Shusha State Music and Drama Theatre to Ashgabat.

In an interview with a SNG.Today correspondent, Kerimov said the theatrical production raises an important issue of morality in the modern world and thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for organising the important event.

The plot centres on a young girl, Nargilya, who falls in love with an adult man, Ghasanzade. However, Ghasanzade, as a noble man, cannot take advantage of her inexperience. He explains to Nargilya that life is completely different, and a wonderful future awaits her.

Kerimov thanked the organisers of the festival and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for supporting cultural ties between fraternal peoples. He noted that Ashgabat that has turned into a modern city has become more hospitable for guests.

“I visited Ashgabat for the first time in 1979 and for the second time in 1992. Today, Turkmenistan and its capital have changed beyond recognition,” the director said.

Kerimov noted that his team has made friends with their Turkmen counterparts and is planning creative cooperation. He hopes that theatrical collaboration will bring many good emotions to the spectators in the two countries.
