Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and Chairman of the Board of Gazprom PJSC Alexey Miller held talks on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. The parties signed a Strategic Memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector, the press office of the Government of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.
The Memorandum envisages promoting partnerships in gas supply and transportation, as well as cooperation in hydrocarbon extraction and geological exploration.
The parties discussed Russian gas exports to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan that have been launched in the autumn this year. They highly evaluated the importance of the route of the Central Asia-Centre gas pipeline network that ensures stable and reliable gas supplies to the region, which is very important in the cold season.
