On November 1, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated citizens of the country on the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of Turkmenistan. The President noted that manat is a symbol of economic growth and achievements of the country, Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported.
«The introduction of Turkmenistan manat into circulation has created positive opportunities for sustained economic development, the sustainability of money turnover and the effectiveness of the unified state monetary policy. This policy is aimed at creating an enabling macroeconomic environment to ensure the sustainability of money turnover, achieve sustained economic development, improve the people’s welfare, enhance the competitiveness of the national economy and integrate the banking system into the international financial market,» the President said.
Berdimuhamedov emphasised that work is ongoing to bring the national banking legislation in compliance with international standards. The range of banking services is developing to meet modern requirements. The banking sector is expanding the list of electronic payments to step up settlements and turnover of funds and introduce advanced forms of service using safe and fast money transfer technologies.
The President emphasised that the circulation of manat in Turkmenistan’s economy, where the fast money turnover has contributed to increasing the number of new industries, is being improved. Effective measures are being taken to increase financial literacy of the population. Bank employees consistently sharpen their professional skills.
«We will take further measures to modernise the state monetary policy, raise credit allocations to the development of manufacturing sectors of the national economy, stimulate small-sized businesses, raise loan financing for the population, ensure access to loan usuries, improve the quality of banking services, promote fruitful cooperation with international financial organisations and widely introduce innovative technologies,» Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
