Oil and gas forum increases Turkmenistan’s investment attractiveness

The XXVIII International Conference and Exhibition «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2023» (OGT-2023) was successfully held in Ashgabat from 25 to 27 October. The events contributed to increasing investment attractiveness of Turkmenistan in the oil and gas industry. Editor-in-Chief of Nebit-Gaz Newspaper Ussa Ussaev reported to CentralAsia.news.

Ussaev said over 700 delegates from 49 countries attended the conference in person. More than 70 companies placed their stands at the OGT-2023 international exhibition. About 10,000 people visited the exhibition for three days.

The analyst emphasised that the investment projects in Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector, including further stages of the Galkynysh field development, construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, optimization of oil and gas production on onshore mature fields and development of fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, were presented at the conference. The participants paid special attention to the environmental aspects of hydrocarbon extraction and methane emissions reduction.

The expert added that the forum provided a platform for bilateral meetings on the prospects for cooperation between the heads of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector and potential partners. The parties discussed new investment projects, opportunities for exchanging experience among national and foreign oil and gas companies and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.

«Commenting on the outcomes of this year’s forum, we can say with confidence the level of its significance is very high, and the impressive representation of its participants testifies to the great interest of foreign business circles in boosting effective cooperation with Turkmenistan that ranks among the world’s leaders in hydrocarbon reserves. OGT-2023 will undoubtedly contribute to expanding existing business contacts and establishing new ones in the oil and gas sector,» Ussa Ussaev concluded.
