President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev congratulated citizens of Kazakhstan on the national holiday — Republic Day. In his message, he noted that the Declaration of State Sovereignty laid a solid foundation for the development and progress of the country, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.
Tokayev said the Declaration secured the integrity and inviolability of the territory, enhanced the national identity and guaranteed the rights and freedoms of citizens. The President emphasised that responsible citizenship lies in the readiness of every citizen to contribute to sustainable development of his country.
«Today these fundamental principles are embodied in the Constitution, laws and strategy of Kazakhstan <…> Only together we will be able to accomplish all transformational goals and build Fair Kazakhstan,» the President of Kazakhstan said in his message.
Concerts, meetings, relay races and other events were held throughout the country to mark the holiday. A flash mob was organised in five districts of Astana: over 1,000 flags were hung on windows and balconies and along the streets in honour of the important day.
