Kazakhstan set to build 1,300 km of new railway links

Kazakhstan is planning to build 1,300 kilometres of new railway links in the next 3 years. Thus, the country is set to contribute to the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative put forth by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the ru.people.cn Telegram channel reported.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev made this statement in Beijing. The Kazakh leader took part in the opening ceremony of the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

«Adhering to the fundamental interests of the people of Kazakhstan and China and the spirit of friendship and eternal strategic partnerships, our country is firmly committed to further promoting the high goals of the Belt and Road.» <…> All of these are real examples of the coupling of major economic projects of Kazakhstan with the global Chinese initiative,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.

The President of Kazakhstan emphasised that the country not only promises to build 1,300 kilometres of new railway links within 3 years, but also plans to open the third railway checkpoint on the border between Kazakhstan and China and build new dry ports.
