Uzbekistan and Qatar set to implement energy projects

The authorities of Uzbekistan intend to implement joint energy and agricultural projects with Qatari companies. These projects include the construction of solar and wind power plants in the regions of the country, the press office of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

Deputy Minister Oybek Khamraev said the total capacity of these power plants is estimated at 3.3 GW. Furthermore, it is planned to build thermal and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2.5 GW jointly with the Qatari company Nebras Power.

Cooperation is to be promoted in the agricultural sector. The joint project with the Qatari company Hassad Food will envisage growing soybeans, legumes and sunflowers.

The Ministry emphasised that Uzbekistan has a unique investment climate, which includes a free foreign exchange market and a reduced VAT rate. This gives attractive investment opportunities to Qatari businessmen.

Recently, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov has held meetings in Qatar aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
