Turkmen Foreign Minister takes part in meeting of CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in Bishkek

On October 12, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov arrived in Bishkek to participate in the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. Together with his counterparts, he will discuss 20 issues of further interstate partnerships within the CIS, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The participants will discuss the issues on the international agenda, the awarding of the CIS Badge of Honour and the Medal for Contribution to Strengthening Peace, the assignment of an observer status to the CIS and the preparations for the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. The foreign ministers will discuss preparatory work for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025, and a draft agreement on the International Russian Language Organisation.

The parties will focus on optimizing public administration in the digital tech sector, promoting partnerships in a multipolar world and protecting human rights. The agenda also includes a draft agreement on the establishment of an international centre for money laundering risk assessment and a coordinating council on forensic services.

Other issues under discussion will be a draft crime control programme until 2028, amendments to the legal acts of the CIS, the Year of the Volunteer Movement, the CIS Championships, the inter-ministerial consultations in 2024 and the implementation of the tourism and physical activity development strategies until 2026.
