Kazakhstan has decreased shadow economy to 18.7 percent

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency Zhanat Elimanov, who reported on the work done by the Agency for 9 months of the year, the Telegram channel of Akorda reported.

The Chairman of the Agency reported that in January-September, over 217 billion tenge was returned to the state, and the share of the shadow economy decreased to 18.7 percent. Zhanat Elimanov reported that 229 analytical materials were provided to law enforcement agencies, and the financial transactions related to drug crime were blocked.

This year, a special unit responsible for combating crypto-enabled crime was set up, and 9 illegal crypto exchangers were liquidated. The crypto-enabled crime proceeds amounting to 47 million tenge were transferred to the Agency’s special account on the Binance crypto exchange.

The President instructed that the Agency toughen measures to protect honest business companies and combat financial and economic crimes.
