On October 8, a literary event marking the 95th birth anniversary of the Kyrgyz writer and diplomat Chingiz Aitmatov took place at the Russian National Library, the Telegram channel of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly reported the details.
The participants laid flowers at the bust of Chingiz Aitmatov, which was donated to the Library by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly several years ago.
Participants discussed the creative work of Chingiz Aitmatov and the progress of the implementation of the Chingiz Aitmatov Public Garden public project.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council — Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Nurbek Satvalidiev called Chingiz Aitmatov an outstanding prose writer, whose creative work is a world heritage. He emphasised that the writer’s legacy brings peoples together and teaches love for one’s neighbour, devotion to the homeland and the unity of man and nature.
