Kazakhstan adopts EEC’s practices to fight tobacco and alcohol use

The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan is taking measures to eradicate bad habits among the population by adopting the best international practices, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

In his letter, Director of the Department of Science and Human Resources under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daulet Aldyngurov noted that the work within the Eurasian Economic Commission is being undertaken in several areas, and high priority is given to the fight against tobacco, alcohol and drug addiction.

«In 2023, an Intercountry Report on the adoption of international practices to combat these addictions in the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union was prepared. The document was developed by the Eurasian Economic Commission together with the authorized bodies of the EAEU Member State as part of the Strategy 2025,» the Ministry of Health reported.

The areas of cooperation among the EAEU Member States include the manufacture of medical supplies and medical equipment. On July 5 this year, the Eurasian Economic Commission made a recommendation on the development of cooperation among the EAEU Member States in this area.

The Central Asia states are actively working towards improving healthcare human capital management. In May this year, the thematic session «Eurasian dialogue on the labour market. Human capital. Healthcare» was included in the business programme of the II Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow.
