On September 28, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting, dedicated to the visit of the delegation of the republic to Germany. Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the preparations for the trip. This was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan: Today».
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will take part in negotiations within the format «Central Asia — Germany». Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty noted that Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany have established effective cooperation in the field of high technology, industry, transport and agriculture. He also emphasized the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations.
The meeting participants pointed out great opportunities for strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties.
Today about 50 German companies work in Turkmenistan. PWT Wasser und Abwassertechnik, together with Turkmen businessmen, built a seawater desalination plant on the shore of the Caspian Sea. CLAAS supplies tractors and combine harvesters to the republic. Medical institutions and textile enterprises of the country have modern German equipment.
