Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan to receive loans to purchase railcars

On September 25, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the priority objectives of reforms in the railway industry. The important decision to provide loans to entrepreneurs to purchase railcars was taken during the meeting, the press office of the President of the Republic reported to CentralAsia.news.

The President noted that the number of industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan has increased significantly over the past 7 years; there are 110,000 enterprises now. More than 2,000 new types of products have been developed, which contributed to increasing cargo turnover in the country by 30%.

However, Mirziyoyev emphasised that the railway industry is facing problems despite the positive trends. In particular, these include a shortage of railcars and an outdated railway fleet, as well as the low level of digitalization. The proposals for reforming the industry to solve these problems were discussed.

The proposal to transform the Uzbekiston Temir Yollari Joint Stock Company into a holding company and introduce modern management systems was approved. It was decided to provide loans to private businesses to purchase railcars. This measure is aimed at filling the shortage of railcars and creating an enabling business environment.
