Uzbekistan promotes cooperation in education with CIS Member States

The conference on cooperation in higher education among the Central Asian countries has started in Tashkent. The event, organised by the World Bank jointly with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, has brought together heads of educational departments and institutions from across Central Asia, both in person and online, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The key issues under discussion included cooperation among institutions of higher education of the Central Asian countries. Participants will share experiences and best practices in education, particularly in the context of modern technologies and online education. They will consider expanding academic mobility and student exchange, which contribute to fostering an interstate cultural and scientific dialogue.

World Bank Country Manager for Uzbekistan Marco Mantovanelli, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov and Manager in the World Bank’s Education Global Practice covering the Europe and Central Asia region Rita Almeida spoke at the opening ceremony. They emphasised that the Central Asian countries have successfully adapted their higher education systems to the requirements of a modern market economy and highlighted the importance of interstate interaction.
