Uzbekistan proposes implementing Silk Road Interconnectivity Programme

On September 7, the plenary session on «Joint measures to ensure food security and establish food systems» of the International Conference on Food Security took place in Samarkand. Uzbek experts proposed launching a Silk Road Interconnectivity joint programme, Nuz.uz reports.

The main objectives of the programme are to develop logistics routes and create «green corridors» for countries which have access to the sea. The implementation of this initiative will allow its participants to reduce transport costs.

The conference brought together ministers of agriculture from 15 countries and representatives of more than 30 international and research organisations and financial institutions. Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov read out an Address of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the participants of the conference.

The conference offered specialists and experts from 27 countries a platform to discuss food security issues. The participants are to find solutions to end hunger over the next 6 years.
