Tashkent hosts Second International Sculpture Symposium

The Tashkent-2023 Second International Sculpture Symposium started its work in Tashkent. 11 artists from Uzbekistan and 10 foreign participants will make marble sculptures depicting environmental issues from August 31 to September 30, Gazeta.uz reports.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Ministry of Construction and Public Utilities and the Creative Union of Artists of Uzbekistan. The artists will highlight in their works such topical issues as human-environment interaction, climate change, the preservation of green areas and the revival of the Aral Sea.

The participants represent Italy, Spain, the United Kingdon, Argentina, Turkey, India, Iran, Georgia, Russia and Belarus. The organisers hope the symposium will promote international communication and exchange of experience among artists. They also seek to foster ecological culture and respect for nature through art.

The participants are working in a special area in the industrial zone of Sergeli district of Tashkent. They will crate their works from a block of white marble mined in the Zarband quarry in Samarkand Region. The participants of the First Symposium in Samarkand highly evaluated its quality, and it was therefore decided to use it this time.
