Four new schools open in Astana

4 new schools in Astana have started its work in the new academic year. Mayor of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek and Minister of Education of Kazakhstan Gani Beisembaev took part in the opening ceremony of new educational institutions, the press office of the Astana Administration reported.

The officials visited a new building on the territory of school-lyceum 59 in Yesil district. It is designed for 1,200 schoolchildren, thanks to which the educational institution switched to a two-shift schedule. Previously, schoolchildren studied in three shifts. The Astana Akim and the Minister of Education visited school 55, the building of which was repaired and refurbished.

Major and minor repair works have been done on about 50 educational institutions throughout the city, including schools, kindergartens and colleges. By the end of the current academic year, 11 comprehensive schools that will create 16,600 extra places will open in Astana.

«Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek noted that 24 more schools will be built in 2024–2025 within the Comfortable School National Project on the instructions of the President. Schools of the new format will create almost 90,000 places (in two shifts),» the press office quoted the Mayor of Astana.
