Uzbek schools to teach financial literacy

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss important issues regarding the quality of education and the opportunities provided to schoolchildren. The main decisions taken at the meeting included the introduction of financial literacy to the lesson plans for senior schoolchildren, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

Mirziyoyev noted that in recent years, 350 private schools have been opened in Uzbekistan, in which 70,000 children are receiving education. However, not all these schools meet the modern requirements for school education.

Speaking at the meeting, the Uzbek leader presented several new projects and programmes aimed at modernising Uzbekistan’s education sector. These projects include the introduction of financial literacy to the lesson plans for senior schoolchildren. In addition, first-graders will be taught computer literacy. Mirziyoyev noted that in 2023 it is planned to invite 500 native speakers from other countries to teach their languages at schools in Uzbekistan. In the future, they will increase significantly in number.
