About $600 million in foreign investment allocated to Samarkand Region

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed the aspects of social and economic development of Samarkand Region during an important meeting. The emphasis was placed on the tasks that must be fulfilled in the region by the end of 2023. The Uzbek leader noted that the region received $600 million in foreign investment over the past 7 months, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The President said Samarkand Region demonstrates dynamic economic growth, noting that however, a larger portion of investment –78% is allocated to Samarkand.

The Uzbek leader highlighted such major areas of development as the support of entrepreneurs and households and the expansion of grape and pistachio plantations in the region. He emphasised the need to create new roadside service jobs. Mirziyoyev said 170 billion soums would be earmarked to build infrastructure in the Urgut free economic zone in 2023.
