On August 15, Minister of Digital Development of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and Deputy Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Isobel Coleman met in Washington to sign a memorandum of cooperation, Gazeta.uz reported.
USAID will support the implementation of the Digital Uzbekistan — 2030 Strategy and promises to assist in developing information and communication technologies in the country. The USAID is going to involve youth and women in the IT sector, network technical educational institutions, contribute to private sector development and implement other IT initiatives.
Shermatov and Coleman considered strengthening Uzbekistan-US cooperation and discussed opportunities to boost the development of the IT sector and the digital economy and empower the private sector. The Digital Uzbekistan — 2030 Strategy is one of the key priorities for President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is seeking to promote digital technologies and transform the country into a digital economy.
