Moscow hosts Days of Kazakh Cinematography

On August 18-20, Moscow will host the Days of Kazakh Cinematography – the artists from Kazakhstan will take part in the event, organised by Roskino with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The Kazakh films will be shown at the Illusion cinema, the press office of Roskino reported.

The programme includes 5 films. The brightest and most famous works created by the Kazakh filmmakers over the past 10 years were selected for the event.

The programme will begin with the drama “Shal” (The Old Man) based on Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea”, directed by Yermek Tursunov, on August 18. This film received the awards of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2013.

Spectators will watch the drama “The Road to Mother” directed by Akan Sataev. The film is a story about the power of maternal love that helped the main hero cope with the strokes of fate. The film won the Ak Ilbirs National Film Award in the Best Film of Central Asia category in 2017.

The programme includes Akan Sataev’s military drama “Myn Bala Army” – the winner of two awards of the Fajr International Film Festival. This film is on the long Oscar Nominee List in the Best International Feature Film category.

The comedy “Walnut Tree” directed by Yerlan Nurmukhambetov is about the ancient tradition of bride kidnapping.

The programme includes Bolat Kalymbetov’s biographical drama “Mukagali”. This film is a winner of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and a nominee of the International Muslim Film Festival in Kazan.
