The representative of the MFA congratulated the Turkmen diplomat on his appointment. The officials assessed the current state of interstate cooperation and the prospects for further cooperation between Ashgabat and Phnom Penh. The ambassador noted that he will make efforts to strengthen relations between the countries.
On March 29, 2023, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree appointing Muhammetniyaz Mashalov as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Cambodia (with residence in Kuala Lumpur).
In October last year, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the 41st meeting of the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia. Deputy Foreign Minister Berdiniyaz Myatiev met with State Secretary of the MFA of Cambodia Koi Kuong. They considered the possibilities of partnership between the chambers of commerce and industry and businessmen.
