Chinese company to build wind power plant in Kazakhstan

An online meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Chairman of China Power International Holding Ltd. Wang Zichao was an important step to build up cooperation in the energy sector, the press office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

China Power International Holding Ltd., the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Samruk-Kazyna JSC and SANY Renewable Energy Co., Ltd signed an agreement on the construction a 1GW wind power plant in Zhambyl Region during the visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to China in May. This was the main issue addressed at the online meeting; the progress in the implementation of the investment project was discussed. 

The interlocutors exchanged views on promising energy projects. Emphasising that Kazakhstan targets attracting foreign direct investment as a key priority, Roman Sklyar expressed keen interest in ramping up cooperation.

Wang Zichao assured the Kazakh side of the readiness for the successful implementation of the wind power plant project and highlighted the importance of energy cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
