Uzbekistan has created about 8,000 new jobs in recent years

The high-ranking officials and heads of the regional authorities discussed measures aimed at eradicating poverty, creating new jobs and increasing local budget revenues during a videoconference meeting held at the initiative of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. The participants noted that over the past year and a half, about 8,000 new jobs have been created in the country, the press office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The khokims of the regions and the heads of the Republic of Karakalpakstan attended the meeting. The important issues under discussion included the dynamics of foreign direct investment in Tashkent Region. In 2022, FDI inflows increased by 135% to $480 million. Over the past year and a half, 322 projects totally worth $240 million have been implemented and created about 8,000 new jobs.

The participants focused on the employment problem in the Republic. In this regard, they decided to help self-employed persons switch to entrepreneurial activity in small and medium-sized businesses. It is planned to set up a network of business incubators and accelerators in the regions of Uzbekistan using the successful Japan’s experiences. Support will be provided to potential entrepreneurs to accumulate working capital on an equally shared basis.
