Kyrgyzstan refuses private road construction services

Kyrgyzstan has changed the public procurement regulations. In particular, the regulations on the selection of road maintenance contractors have changed, the press office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

On July 25, President Sadyr Japarov signed the law that amends some legislative acts on public procurement.

The main goal of these amendments is to improve public procurement procedures and fight corruption in this sector. It also envisages amendments to 13 legislative acts of the Republic.

The law sets forth the new procedural mechanisms for public procurement, as well as simplified procedures when a procurement plan is used and expanded cases of applying the single source method. The comment of President Sadyr Japarov that private contractors, who won tenders at unreasonable prices, will not be henceforth engaged in road maintenance and repairs has been published in the media.

These amendments aim at enhancing the transparency and efficiency of public procurement, improving the business environment and preventing corruption in this area.
