President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the first Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Arab states of the Gulf, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the press office of the Government of Tajikistan reported.
Highlighting the deep historical, cultural and spiritual ties among the Central Asia states of and the Arab states of the Gulf, Rahmon noted that strengthening relations with the Arab states of the Gulf is an important aspect of Tajikistan’s foreign policy. The President said Tajikistan is ready to build up mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, investment and culture, among others.
He emphasised the importance of establishing a strategic dialogue between Central Asia and the Gulf, as well as Tajikistan’s interest in attracting investment to promote green energy by using the hydropower potential of Tajikistan. The President identified the promising areas of cooperation, such as agricultural processing and trade, economic, transport and communication projects, as well as the development of humanitarian areas.
