Uzbekistan signs Memorandum on halal tourism promotion with World Halal Trust Group

The Certification Centre for Tourism Services under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan chaired by Sulton Khonbabaev, the World Halal Trust Group and the International Halal Certification Centre signed a memorandum of cooperation on halal tourism promotion in the country, the press office of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The document aims to build bilateral relations on the principles of reciprocity, equality, mutual trust and the effectiveness of spiritual and commercial expediency in the promotion of halal tourism in Uzbekistan.

As part of this cooperation, the parties will conduct joint studies related to halal tourism and design methods to implement them at the international, national and regional levels. They will also launch professional training programmes and hospitality certification in compliance with the OIC/SMIIC 9:2019 Halal Tourism Services — General Requirements standard.

Halal tourism allows Muslim travellers to recreate according to Islamic teachings. These include gender segregation of dressing rooms, beaches and spas, specific dietary requirements and prayer places. In some cases, guided tours about the history of Islam can be conducted.
