Kazakhstan-Hungary political consultation in Astana

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko and Assistant State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary held a regular round of Kazakhstan-Hungary political consultation on the prospects for promoting strategic bilateral cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.

The parties noted the progress in building up political cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary. The two countries share views on certain geopolitical issues and mutually support the initiatives of the parties on international discussion platforms.

The participants highlighted the expediency of building up trade, economic and investment cooperation. The Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation has a major role to play in intensifying it.

The agenda focused on the prospects for strengthening cultural and educational partnerships. As reported, over 1,000 students from Kazakhstan study at Hungarian universities, for whom Hungary allocates up to 250 grants annually.

The parties emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation within major international organisations, including the UN, OSCE and the Organization of Turkic States.
