On July 12, Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili to discuss further bilateral cooperation and promotion of tourism in the country, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The interlocutors discussed preparatory work for the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly, which will take place in Samarkand in October this year.
They highlighted the importance of deepening practical cooperation in attracting major investors, well-known foreign companies and brands to implement projects aimed at creating a modern and comfortable tourism infrastructure in the Republic.
The interlocutors noted that joint efforts will be taken to promote the international image, education and training of highly qualified personnel, including the creation of the UNWTO International Academy and thematic office in Uzbekistan.
