On July 10, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the early presidential elections, which were held on July 9, during a telephone conversation, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
«At the beginning of the conversation, the leader of Turkmenistan cordially congratulated the head of our state on his convincing victory in the early presidential elections, wishing well-being and prosperity to the fraternal Uzbek people,» the message says.
Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev focused on the dynamic and progressive development of Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan relations and the expansion of cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture and other sectors and exchanged views on issues on the regional agenda.
The interlocutors discussed the schedule of upcoming bilateral events.
Speaking at a briefing, Chairman of the CEC Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev reported that Shavkat Mirziyoyev was winning the presidential election by securing 87,05% of votes, according to preliminary data from the CEC. The elections were held after the amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan had been adopted.
