Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia agree to open direct flights

The foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia held a meeting in Bishkek, at which they agreed to boost bilateral relations, MIR 24 reports.

One of the main goals is to double trade between the two countries. It was also decided to open direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia.

Malaysia is ready to share its experience in information technology and the electronics industry with Kyrgyzstan. The interlocutors also considered creating joint IT parks. The document of intent covered other areas of cooperation, including agriculture and the export of dried fruits to Malaysia.

Investment, tourism, education and culture are key areas of Kyrgyzstan-Malaysia cooperation. For example, the two countries plan to jointly develop the halal industry and produce products that comply with Islamic standards.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that the countries intend to bolster cooperation and build a stronger and more prosperous future despite the coronavirus pandemic that has weakened bilateral ties.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan exports honey, jet fuel and air pumps to Malaysia and imports cell phones, car parts and coconut oil.
