President of Uzbekistan urges to step up modernisation of SCO

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev urged to conduct inventory and audit of adopted agreements and institutional activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In his speech at the online conference of the SCO Heads of State Council, Mirziyoyev emphasised the importance of stepping up the modernisation of the organisation, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Uzbek leader proposed to develop a joint research project, which would help identify the development prospects of the SCO. The expert forum will discuss this project in more detail. Mirziyoyev put forward an initiative to develop the Code of Good Neighbourliness, Trust and Cross-Border Partnerships of the SCO, which would be a fundamental political instrument.

The conference focused on a wide range of important issues, including the prospects for expanding partnerships. In his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasised the importance of pursuing a trust-based and constructive dialogue among the countries. He stressed that mutual understanding and appropriate levels of cooperation could be achieved only through such interaction.
